Qualitas Energy, a global investment and management platform focused on renewable energy, energy transition, and sustainable infrastructure investment, has acquired through Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH, its subsidiary in Germany, two wind projects in the country with a total capacity of 80 MW. The company plans to repower wind farm Apensen and will develop a wind project in Blumberg to achieve this volume of environmentally friendly energy production.

Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH has completed the acquisition of close to 90% of Apensen wind farm -near Hamburg- after reaching an agreement with around 570 shareholders. The repowering work carried out by the company will significantly increase the wind plant’s capacity. This is a key project for Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH because it demonstrates its capacity to drive the energy transition in close collaboration with local stakeholders. The company supports them with its own resources, operational and financial optimization capabilities, and its expertise in the market for the development and construction of wind turbines in repowering, which has a positive impact on the local community and the environment.

With the same aim, the company will develop a greenfield project in Blumberg, in southern Baden-Württemberg.

The energy generated will ensure after completion of the project development the supply of approximately 55,000 households and enable annual savings of 300,000 tons of CO².

These two projects bring the company’s portfolio in Germany to 50 wind power projects in the country with a total capacity of 1,600 MW of wind projects under development and more than 350 MW are assets in operation, which are currently being successfully repowered to significantly increase the generation of environmentally friendly wind power.

Hajo Kallsen, Investment Manager at Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH said: “The energy transition is one of the most important challenges of our time. Germany is the birthplace of wind energy, and our task now is to continue to successfully operate or repower wind farms to bring this transition to a successful conclusion.”

Niklas Hinz, Investment Director at Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH, added: “Our fund Q-Energy V (QE V) continues to invest in German and international renewable energy projects and reinforces our commitment to the transition to a decarbonized economy. We
will acquire more wind farms with a focus on repowering and significantly expand our portfolio of greenfield projects.”

Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH is part of the Qualitas Energy Group, which is committed to driving the change towards a decarbonized economy and focused on the acquisition, financing, project development, construction, and operation of onshore wind turbines with a team of more than 150 employees at its offices in Berlin, Hamburg, and Wiesbaden.
